Karen Crumley Keats is an artist working extensively in the photographic field. She has collaborated with many of the world's leading photographers, art directors and publications, including Bruce Weber, Patrick Demarchelier, Steven Klein, Vogue, Vanity Fair. Using a multitude of techniques, (she has studied Byzantine icon painting, medieval manuscript illumination and alchemy at The School of Sacred Arts in New York, 19th century and early 20th century photographic methods and chemistry) she creates artwork and special effects on photographs for editorial and exhibition, campaign, advertisement and catalog. These techniques include pigment and chemical painting and drawing, collage, digital layering, illumination, historical/classical printing, toning and effects.

Expert at selecting and mixing color and the medium and application best suited to enhance the concept of the photograph or visual, Ms. Keats produces a unique and visionary look for each image. Many of these same techniques are applied in the creation of script, typography, logo designs and treatments, backgrounds, images independent of photographs, handmade books and ephemera.
